Liverpool's Star Offers Regret to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones

The Liverpool midfielder has shared that Mohamed Salah apologised to the group of players in the wake of the controversy from his televised remarks.

What Happened

The striker was dropped from a European match following making accusations and suggesting his connection to the head coach had soured.

“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, please accept my apology.’”

Arne Slot has chosen not to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.

Moving Forward

The player stated that the team's response stayed normal. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and it was business as usual,” he continued.

Jones also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “It's clear there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”

Team Form

The team's performance have remained strong in the games following the interview fallout. The player is convinced the outburst were not designed to destabilise the squad.

“When there’s been any sort of anger, the source has been from a good place,” he finished. “It's behind us and we’re gelling well as a team, playing well and on a positive run.”
