On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told call records and information recovered from phones documented Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test during that period.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - when she was three years old during a family holiday in Portugal - is among the most widely reported investigations and remains unresolved.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

Another recorded message, shared in court, captured Ms Wandelt declaring: "I understand I'm overweight and not pretty like Madeleine was, but I know what I believe."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail stated: "Suppose there is a slight possibility that I'm her? What then? Isn't that significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I have a existence here in Poland, I only wish to know," she added.

The panel was advised that via emails, mobile messages and calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a genetic test, forwarded early photographs to her phone in a bid to display a likeness to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and stated to have "recollections" from a youth with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, a data specialist with Leicestershire Police who gathered the evidence, told the court there "seemed to lack any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also reached out to close associates of the McCanns, according to the call data.

On 9 October 2024, Mr McCann answered a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "a wrong number."

That day Ms Wandelt deposited a message on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will persist and I plan to establish my position."

The court learned the co-defendant established a connection via internet with Ms Wandelt before assisting her on a appearance to the McCanns' property in that area in last December.

Phone records revealed Mrs Spragg had communicated using communication app to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had depicted Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she deserved to be considered genuine in the months preceding the trip to Rothley, that area, in last December.

The court learned communications between the two individuals, in last November, considering endeavoring to get Mrs McCann's DNA samples from her trash or from utensils at a dining venue.

"We need to assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg advised Ms Wandelt.

On the night of the appearance to their house, Mrs Spragg dispatched a message which stated: "We find ourselves sat near the McCanns' residence with our headlights off resembling private investigators. I desired to accomplish this with Peter Andrew I never thought I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."

The proceedings ongoing.
