Maritime Singing Weekend in Cornwall

This coastal town is the excellent spot for a sea shanty weekend. Participants will learn traditional shanties from a folk singer and vocal coach, and have a go at writing their own. The schedule includes vocal warmups, breath control techniques, stagecraft advice and a closing performance. The holiday is based at a country house overlooking St Ives Bay. Full board are included, including a traditional tea on arrival, breakfast options, lunches to go and three-course dinners. Grog, unfortunately, is not included. Writing in Greece

Writer and lecturer Greg Mosse runs the regular sessions on this writing retreat. He explores topics including story structure, characters, locations and suspense, to sending manuscripts to agents. The retreat is held at a traditional complex in Vamos at the base of the White mountains – 10 one- and two-bedroom cottages surround a garden and pool (companions are encouraged to share).
